Happy Thanksgiving! I figured while the turkey is cooking we could take a look at Wednesday night’s meal, at least the parts that were hard to digest.
Elton Brand and Lou Williams – Both sat due to injury and are turning this into a nightmare week for their fantasy owners. Williams was on an unbelievable roll but now has a broken jaw. Brand has hamstring tightness. I have nausea.
Hedo Turkoglu – 5, 0 & 2 in 23 minutes last night at Charlotte. The only guy worse than him in that game was…
Boris Diaw – 5, 1 & 2 in 20 minutes. This was a blowout for the Bobcats but those are two lines that can submarine your week.
Chris Kaman and Al Thornton – In an 86-73 loss to Indiana (huh?), Kaman (3-19) and Thornton (2-15) combined to shoot 14.7 percent from the field.
Rashard Lewis – Clearly struggling to reassimilate in Orlando, or maybe its his shot, or that Vince Carter is the primary weapon there, or that Jason Williams is his point guard. Either way, he was 3-for-15 from the floor for only nine points last night.
Ersan Ilyasova – He was in a lot of fantasy lineups this week, and his 5-point, 3-rebound effort isn’t going to cut it. You still have to be patient with him.
Shawn Marion – The good news: he played. The bad: He had just three rebounds in 31 minutes. Strange game, this 130-99 Dallas win at Houston. You would think Jason Kidd would be much better than 9-2-7, and Tim Thomas going off for 23 points? Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is a big drinking night, so many folks will forget that this happened. But it did.
Anthony Morrow – After two monster games in a row, he came back to Earth with just eight points at San Antonio. He’ll be better than this most nights.
O.J. Mayo – 8-0-0 at Phoenix. For real?
Devin Harris – 6-0-3 in 24 minutes at Portland. He isn’t all the way back yet.
GOBBLE THEM UP
Jrue Holliday – 34 minutes Wednesday night in place of Williams, modest line (10 points, 6 assists), but worth monitoring.
Darren Collison – 18 points, 7 boards, 8 assists, 2 steals in overtime win over Milwaukee.
Jason Williams – 25 points, 8 assists, 4 3s vs. former team. Wow. He won’t be this good again, but worth a look with Jameer Nelson out a month or more.
Nate Robinson – Cooking again. 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting last night. He was dropped in a lot of shallow leagues.
Donte Greene – This was the line of the night, maybe the year: 24 points, 4 boards, 5 assists, 6 blocks, 6 threes. Started in place of a sick Beno Udrih, and made a case to stay there. Wow. Caveat: he did it vs. the Knicks. Still, could use this performance as a springboard.
Carl Landry – Another great game. 24 points, 6 boards, 9-11 shooting. That’s what he does. Only two clunkers in 10 November games.
Tim Thomas – Just kidding.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving meals, everyone.
